The Powershop Gym

The Powershop Gym: Timeless Fitness, http://www.powershopgym.com/, locally-owned in Brookings, has found a variety of effective, cost-friendly methods to create awareness and responsiveness in the community. Even though their goal, of course, is to attract more Powershop users, they also hope to educate the community in participating in healthier lifestyles when it comes to diet and fitness. They hope to achieve this not only in their facilities, but also online and through advertising services.

Trainer Tony Kinsley explained much of their success in advertising is accomplished through trade with other area businesses. In exchange for placing Powershop brochures, fliers, radio announcements, pizza box ads, and other forms of advertising in the allowing businesses, these companies receive free or discounted fitness memberships in return.

Another prominent source of Powershop advertising includes the Internet. Their online campaign includes a website, blog, YouTube channel, and Facebook page. The website and Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/powershopgym, of course, cover practically everything one needs to know about their fitness facility, class schedules, location, trainers biographies, etc. The Powershop blog, located at http://blog.powershopgym.com/, allows trainers post ideas, input, goals, and other relevant thoughts for online visitors and each other. Finally, their YouTube channel, http://www.youtube.com/user/PSGTF, provides short demonstrations of proper exercise form and new moves to shake up a normal routine. Tony reported that Twitter might possibly be next on the advertising agenda.

The Powershop spreads their business name through charity events, such as participating in 5k runs/walks, and displaying booths in health fairs around the state. At this time, the trainers are preparing to partake in the Lennox Health Fair. The vehicles they drive to these health fairs – and everywhere else – are marked with the Powershop logo.

Tony finds that advertising is vital in maintaining their business in this new health-conscious world. A consistent year-round advertising campaign stimulates constant interest in the Brookings area to exercise, choosing The Powershop Gym as their fitness center.
