Mr. Bill Zortman of Key Real Estate is no stranger to advertising. He has spent 30+ years in television and an additional 3 years in radio. Throughout the years, Zortman has helped several different groups make decisions involving their advertising needs. He spoke with me about how Key Real Estate advertises, and also, his involvement with promoting the city of Hartford, S.D.
Key Real Estate primarily advertises in Homeview Magazine. The 15 staff members of Key Real estate combine to take one page a week with the help of Kim, Key Real Estate’s office manager, and Homeview’s staff. Zortman says that other real estate companies choose to advertise in the Argus Leader with generic ads about themselves, the builders they represent, or upcoming open houses. Homeview TV also helps individual agents promote specific homes.
The emergence of online advertising has also greatly helped Key Real Estate. Zortman says that up to 75% of their business is generated by website utilization offering virtual tours, open houses, and automated services that provide specific listings to buyers.
When not involved with Key Real Estate, Zortman is the Chair of the Marketing Committee for Hartford, S.D. He serves as the host for the TV commercials they have aired for the past 3 to 4 years. The most recent commercial can be viewed here. Zortman and his associates have branded Hartford with the slogan “On the Edge of Everything”. A recent spot involved a veterinarian that moved to Hartford, hopefully enticing more professionals to live there. Another spot featured the superintendent of schools for West Central, encouraging parents and students to relocate to the area because of the schools.
All that advertising must work – Key Real Estate was ranked 6th in Real Estate sales in the Sioux Falls area in 2009, and they did just as well for the first quarter of 2010. With the help of TV, online, and radio advertising, Key Real Estate has become one of the most successful real estate companies in Sioux Falls.
