Boost Mobile Utilizes Social Media

With sales growing in the prepaid phone market, Boost Mobile is determined to come out on top with clever advertisements and a close look at the trends on social networks. Teams at Boost mobile kept scouring Facebook, Twitter and Blog posts to find just what it is that their customers are seeking in a mobile phone, and through their research started the “Unwronged” campaign. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=RZX6tHkW7xg
The campaign was created by 180 LA out of Amsterdam, and coverage in South Dakota is currently limited to the extreme Southeastern portion of the state south of Sioux Falls along the 1-29 corridor. The campaign also includes print and outdoor ads and also digital ads that are slated to start in May of this year. The campaign includes print and outdoor ads. Additionally, digital ads are slated to start in May this year. The digital ad’s will change revolving around the social media buzz of the campaign, and complaints that social media users post about their contract based phone services. Prepaid phones sales are growing quickly, and are estimated to continue growing because, for most consumers, going prepaid is usually cheaper at $28 per month on average, versus $55 a month for an average contracted customer. In the 2010 year,Sprint Nextel reported 11.3 million users, which is more than double the number of users they had reported at the end of 2009. A study done by New Millennium Research Council shows that one in five contracted customers would be likely to switch to prepaid in 2011, and an additional 9% of the customers polled said they would switch, but cannot in 2011 due to the contract cancellation fee.Boost Mobile's approach is a fresh take, but they are not alone. This campaign helps prove that consumer generated content is one of the strongest ways to go in advertising. Social Media gives consumers a voice like never before, and allows companies to better understand what drives consumers. Here is the link to Boost mobile's site http://www.boostmobile.com/
